Celebrating 70 Creative Years
It all started 70 years ago, after the war, when Takis Christopoulos , he was a State employee for the Ministry of Economy, had the inspiration to use parachutes from the war to make bras. Why parachutes? Because they were made from silk and it happened to be lighter, stronger and thinner…..and very cheap at that time.. Why bras? Because his wife Loula knew how to sew and make ‘sur measure’ underwear as she was a seamstress at that time in a small industry.
The idea happened to be fantastic as a few years later they had their own shop in the center of Athens and they had customers ‘la crème de la crème’ of Athens. Actresses, singers, the wives of politicians etc. Maria Callas, Aliki Vougiouklaki and Nana Mouschouri were some of their famous clientele.
In 1979 the second generation of Christopoulos family started working in the company, Theodoros and Constantinos Christopoulos. Theodore graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Constantinos graduate from the London School of Fashion made miracles. They lift off the business. Those years back the prints were very difficult to design and to produce and that’s what they did. They made their own prints in various qualities lycra for swimwear and jersey for beachwear. They changed the name from Loula Christopoulos to Crool.
In 2002 the third generation gets the reins and a few years later Miss Crool, a younger and fresher swimwear line is being born! This line takes the Company a step further up and now Crool & Miss Crool Swimwear are sold all over Greece and in 20 countries around the world.
But stay tuned……for the 70 years Celebration Crool is preparing something new!!
